Trying to plan that perfect trip to India and not really sure where to go? Below are routes of India personally traveled by me. Divided out by day, you’ll find timelines for each itinerary which could be easily modified by any traveler based on time constraints or interest level. Some of the routes are shorter day trips which can also be expanded or are included in longer multi-week regional tours.

Refer to the cities page for detailed information on things to do along the way as well as reviews for places and restaurants I’ve enjoyed or would avoid in the future. Need a travel agent for a specific itinerary? I can suggest several excellent companies for almost any region of India. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Ask…there’s a good chance I’ve just returned from the area and haven’t posted an itinerary just yet.

Buddhist Monestary Route of IndiaNorth India Buddhist Circuit 1

This 17 day route takes travelers through the heart of the Himalayas, an exhilarating itinerary that reaches 14,000 feet. Tour a bountiful array of monasteries, none quite the same, while taking in awe-inspiring views you never thought were a part of India. This route can easily be shortened or expanded. Trekkers can expand on day hikes in several of the valleys which are rated excellent for such activities.

Hassan Hoysala Temple Circuit Hassan Hoysala Temple Circuit

Spend 7 days traveling between Bangalore and three of the most fascinating cities where the former Hoysala Dynasty ruled. Rich architecturally designed temples in immaculate condition are sure to enthrall any art, history or architecture buffs. Many of the activities can be condensed into a much shorter time-frame if needed. Few other activities would require travelers to extend this route beyond the initial time allotted.
