Many budget accommodations in India do not supply bath towels. You could pack a regular cotton towel or purchase one once you arrive, but you’ll constantly be using a damp, stinky towel that never has proper time to dry. Instead, plan ahead by purchasing a quick dry travel towel available from multiple online stores. Designed specifically for tourists on the go, these towels are typically made from microfiber, and come in various sizes and colors. You don’t have to change your showering routine other than giving the towel a good wring afterward. This will release up to 90% of the water absorbed from your body and make drying a snap. Most good quality towels include a carrying case in which to place the towel into even when wet. Folded towels take up very little room in an already cramped backpack or luggage carrier.
You can also try a drying chamois. These are my preferred choice when traveling. Much smaller in size, I can dry off my entire body and wring out. The better quality brands include an antibacterial coating so there is no need to worry about what’s growing on your chamois after a few uses. Just wring out, roll up, and place back into the holder for storage until the next use.
Travel with these, and you’ll be prepared no matter where you end up for the night.
