Foreign tourists continued to seek the wonders of India in September. More than 400,000 Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) were recorded in September, 2011 as compared to 369,000 during the month of September, 2010. The 8.7% year-over-year growth for September, 2011, is higher than the month of August, 2011, growth rate of 5.3%, but lower than the previous September’s growth rate of 11.6% comparing 2010 to 2009.

For the year-to-date period of January through September, 2011, FTAs were 4.22 million versus 3.835 million in 2010 during the same recording period. That represents a 10% growth, well above the 8% growth rate reported from 2010 over 2009.
