Keeping with the trend of mobile computing, Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a mobile railway ticket booking service for smartphone and tablet users. Travelers can use the service from any internet enabled device, and will not be required to print their e-ticket after completion.

Existing IRCTC Registered Users

Passengers may use their previously registered User ID and Password to access the IRCTC mobile site. No additional registration is required.

New IRCTC Users

A one time registration must be completed via the IRCTC website home page. Both foreign and domestic users must submit a valid email and India mobile number along with name, address, and nationality. Upon registration submission, a verification link will be sent to the registered email address along with a Mobile Verification Code (MVC). In order to finalize the registration users must follow the email verification link and enter the MVC supplied where prompted.

Once registered, the IRCTC mobile ticketing service can be access on any internet enabled mobile device at https://www.irctc.co.in/mobile. Features of IRCTC Mobile include booking ticket/enquiry, booked history and cancelling of ticket(s). After booking, passengers will receive a reservation message with full details of the ticket including PNR, train no, date of journey and class. This virtual message (known as Electronic Reservation Slip ERS) would be considered an equivalent to a printed e-ticket. Passengers will just have to show the reservation message of the confirmed ticket and a valid ID.

Payment can be made using credit or debit card. A service charge of Rs 10 for Sleeper Class and Rs 20 for other higher classes will be added when booking a ticket through IRCTC Mobile.
