Breakfast at Mount View Restaurant in Manali was only by default. Chopsticks, my favorite spot next door, was open but not quite ready to serve food. Not wanting to wait for my morning tea we ventured over to Mount View.

Aside from being the only customers in the place, the atmosphere was nice. Large glass windows allow for the front tables to be soaked in sunlight. The front door is cracked enough to hear the early morning merchants sweeping the sidewalks in preparation of customers. The menu at Mount View Restaurant is your basic fare of Indian food, Tibetan food and Continental foods. Muesli is the smart choice in this town as the locals know how to do it right. Of course no breakfast, or meal for that matter, is complete in Manali without momos. Mount view doesn’t disappoint with their offering.

Muesli done right at Mount View Restaurant

Upstairs is the Mount View Cafe which boasts an espresso bar and open air seating overlooking the Mall of Manali. In hindsight we should have taken our breakfast there, however the espresso menu is available in the main level restaurant. This place was a nice alternative that I would try again on my next stop in Manali, Himachal Pradesh.

Cost Rs 280: 2 teas, 2 lassi, 2 eggs, bowl of muesli and a plate of momos + tip.
