Foreign and domestic travelers all too often have been met either with disdain or fear of reprisal when lodging in-person complaints regarding train travel in India. To combat this well known issue, passengers traveling aboard Indian Railways may now use a new online complaint and suggestion form.
The ambitious new complaint and suggestion system can be found on the home page of Indian Railways’ website. Complaints are categorized into 24 different topics ranging from:
•allotment of seats/berths
•booking of luggage/parcels
•bribery and corruption
•catering and vending services
•cleanliness at stations
•complaints related to sleeper class
•improper behavior of commercial staff
•improper behavior of non commercial staff
•improper behavior of non-railway staff
•maintenance/ cleanliness of coaches
•malfunctioning of electrical equipments
•non-availability of water
•punctuality of trains
•refund of tickets
•working of enquiry offices
Additional sub-complaint categories will prompt automatically after an initial complaint category is chosen. All pertinent information should be given such as the date of incident and name of staff if a complaint is being made against an individual person. Passengers will also be prompted for a PRN number, train number, coach number, and berth/seat number when applicable.
Attachements such as photos and other supporting documentation can also be uploaded to corroborate complaints or enhance suggestions.
Passenger name, phone number, email, and address is required to complete a complaint.
Once a complaint or suggestion has been completed, users can also track any action taken for each complaint or suggestion.
