The Right Adaptor for India
Worried about which adaptor you’ll need for traveling India? The good news is, you only need one. The bad news? Well, there isn’t any. It’s that simple.
Electrical outlets in India require a dual, rounded pin plug-in, and also accept a 3 rounded pin version. Because of space constraints, and the fact I like things simple when being a tourist, you’ll only find the small, easy to pack two pin version in my bag. Many online retailers carry multiple brands for virtually the same item so be sure to read the descriptions and check the reviews.
For my iPhone and laptop, Apple sells a World Travel Adapter Kit for $39, and it’s worth it. Six AC plugs with prongs that fit different electrical outlets around the world are included. One two rounded pin plug works perfectly for India. Simply slip off the US two prong plug, slip on the India version and you’re set. The adaptor that originally came with the iPhone and laptop does all the power converting.
Double check and electronics you’ll be packing to ensure they automatically accept a voltage up to 240V. You can find this information on the back of all electronics, typically on power box/plug in adaptor.
