FAST TIP: Rin Detergent for DIY Laundry

All travelers to India wonder at some point how and where their laundry needs will be met while on the road. Hotel and private laundry services work well if your itinerary allows enough turnaround time. Do-it-yourself laundry is a simple way to keep your supply of clean socks and underwear under control.

Rin laundry detergent is a staple around India, easily found in nearly any sundry store. Single need packets are sold for just Rs 2. Most accommodations provide a small bucket located in the bathroom generally used for bathing. Fill with water and a single packet or less of Rin depending on your laundry load. Soak clothes for at least 10 minutes. Scrub, smoosh and beat laundry on the bathroom floor, ring out and rinse thoroughly.

Ahhh, clean laundry.
