EAT: Delhi, Veda
Find this upscale restaurant in the heart of Connaught Place. Enter past the giant double doors through floor to ceiling drapes used to block out the sunlight and passersby. You’ll be greeted by a gracious host and lead to a table on the right or left of the dining area. There is a aisle dead set through the middle running to the kitchen but you will be so transfixed by the wall fixtures, mirrors, lights not to mention the various oversized hanging ceiling fixtures the aisle traffic is not a bother. Attention to detail was brought to the back of the house as well, where bathroom walls are covered in the same rich colors as the dining room. Upgraded fixtures, soaps and decorations are the perfect touch.
Beyond the rich atmosphere and interior design, the menu is tempting at first glance. Veda describes their offerings as “cuisine marrying the traditional with the contemporary”. Service is punctual, performed by sharply dressed waiters exhibiting the best in no nonsense personalities.
As you would come to expect by first impressions, the presentation of delicacies comes in heavy, over-sized platters and bowls. None are matching which makes for an interesting visual treat while deciding what dish to try next.
Portions are just the right amount to have you wanting more but knowing you should stop. An abundance of fresh herbs and spices is evident by the burst of flavor in every bite. The mojito I ordered, served with fresh mint, is still something my mouth waters for when memories look back on this experience.
Perfect for a break on a long day of shopping CP or worthy of a business dinner, Veda scores high on so many levels.
